INTERVIEW WITH SAMARA KING
Welcome, Samara! You’ve accomplished quite a bit already in your writing career, but I love how it all started: sneaking to the back of the library to read romance. :c) How old were you when you wrote that first story, and what was the plot?
Hello Sarah, thank you for having me! I was twelve and thought romance novels were the greatest thing next to chocolate. There was something about the way the stories made you feel. My first attempt at a romance was a teen romance set in a third world country.
Wow – what a standout idea! I don’t see that setting often, and it’s something of which I’d definitely take notice. :c) You describe yourself as an IR/Multicultural author. What drew you to write in these facets of romance?
I’m a long-time reader of African-American/Multicultural romance and Interracial romance, both genres are part of my background.
Writing straight from the heart – always the best! :c) Can you give readers a brief overview of any books you’d like to highlight? What makes them stand apart from other options available to readers?
In Undressed Inc., the first anthology for the SK MINIS imprint, we focus on short sexy reads filled with emotion, fun and sexy characters. I think the diverse range in storytelling is something that will appeal to readers, especially for those looking for quick reads.
I have to agree – anthologies are perfect for “quickie” encounters and discovering new authors! If a reader is unfamiliar with your work, which of your books would you suggest he or she read first? Why?
I would suggest any of them actually, though my story telling I think has broadened over the years, I believe each story hosts characters readers will enjoy.
Awesome answer. Looking back over all of the intimate moments you’ve created between characters, which scene would you most like to experience for yourself? What makes it so alluring?
Any of the scenes between Elle and Durant in Black Honey because they are intensified and filled with emotion. And Durant’s not bad either 🙂
Just the title of that book is so hot, I’ve got a feeling I’d burn my fingers turning pages. :c) Have you ever battled with any of your characters over their personality traits? If so, who won – you or the character?
Yes, usually the characters win, lol, they can be very stubborn.
Sounds like they had a strong creator, LOL! How do you keep track of plot elements or twists?
I usually get to chapter three and then take a look around as to how everything in the story is lining up and then things seem to fall in line, twists are often born out of a character’s background or current need and intensified.
I LOVE when the story brings its own twists! Which of your novels most reflects who you are as a writer? Why?
I would say Undressed Inc. (Black Honey is my story within the anthology) I would say the characters speak to my need for engaging dialogue and that spark that flies between the hero/heroine.
That sounds YUMMY, and there’s a closer look at that story coming up next. But first, tell us what you’re currently working on.
Currently, I am working on the beginning of a new series, Rogue Hearts and several other projects coming up this year.
Undressed Inc., the women you meet are an eclectic bunch. The connection? The melding of sexual desire and any means necessary to satisfy it. Sit back and enjoy the ride! Four sexy stories bring readers front and center as four dynamic women enjoy every drop of pleasure they can get.
BLACK HONEY by Samara King
Who could she run to?
When Officer Elisha “Elle” Taylor finds out crime lord Monty “Black” Kearns was her father, there is only one man she can turn to in the midst of a deadly plot for revenge. The very man she’d sworn never to touch again. Durant Kane.
Leaning on her father’s enforcer and her ex-lover seemed suicidal when the hit on her father was said to be ordered by his own people. Yet, the impulsive and heady sexual chemistry between them was undeniable.

P.S. What are flash novels? Flash novels are defined by The Writer Magazine (December edition) as a new type of storytelling. Flash novels are from 75 to 150 pages in length and tell a lot in a little space!
Thanks so much for joining me today, Samara! You’ve given us plenty of linkage through which to frolic, so I’m off to visit some buy links. :c) Have a wonderful day, everyone!
