The Noble Authors Blog Tour is in week three (!!) and we’re kicking off with Bianca Sommerland and her awesome new release, DEADLY CAPTIVE. Readers, remember to leave a comment with your email address for an entry into the drawing for the $100 grand prize from EDEN FANTASYS. But wait! First you absolutely must indulge in a moment with Bianca. Shall we?
Oooh, I can’t wait to ask you this question! What was the craziest story idea you’ve ever considered? Did you end up writing a version of the story?
Craziest? Hmm…well, I have a gothic one that’s been gathering dust for over a year. Very dark and no HEA. I never thought a publisher or—more importantly—readers, would be interested in a tragic erotic romance. Now that I actually have readers, I’m reconsidering. Most prefer HEA or at least HFN, but all love a good story.
I knew you wouldn’t disappoint on that question, Bianca. Count me in – I’d love to read it! Looking back to the beginning of your writing career, what was the plot of the first story you wrote? Whatever happened to the manuscript?
The plot of my first legible manuscript was about a sleepover party with a bunch of girls toying around with a Ouija board. A spirit possesses one of the girls and she kills all the others. Very graphic for a thirteen year old, but my teacher gave me full marks.
I still have the little book somewhere—I never get rid of anything I write which has really paid off. Even the raw creativity of your child self comes in handy sometimes. I’d tell you what I’ve recycled from my earliest works, but you’d start wondering if I was raised by the Mansons.
Wow, I’d love to read that slumber party story! *new biggest fan* How do you feel about your first published book? Do you feel you’ve improved since it hit the shelves?
I still love my first published book, but getting books published is a lot like having kids—totally original analogy, right? 😉
To tell you the truth, the only reason I’ve improved is because of my crit group. I’d probably have more books out by now if not for them, but the quality wouldn’t be half of what I’m capable of. Having people who refuse to accept any less than your best really helps you grow as an author.
Very true. A good critter is invaluable (even if they do occasionally need to be caged.) *grin* Thinking back over all the sexy scenes you’ve created between characters, which one would you most like to experience for yourself? Why?
Oh, that’s not a fair question, Sarah. There’s a scene in Rosemary Entwined with hands and tongue and lots of hot, sweaty flesh, but I can’t give details here!
Let’s just say . . . Seven men, so many possibilities! 😉
Wow, did you say SEVEN men? Is it hot in here? *ahem* Um, which of your releases most reflects who you are as a writer? What gives it that distinction?
Deadly Captive. The story is just raw and emotional—I was really able to explore some of my darkest fantasies.
Oh, that’s not at *all* intriguing, lol. (That to say it is TOTALLY intriguing!) Which of your characters reigns as your favorite? Why, and where do readers find this character?
I don’t know if one character reigns—Lydia, from Deadly Captive, is definitely one of my favorite heroines. Not to take anything away from Rosemary, but Lydia can kick some ass.
Somehow I don’t doubt that one bit. ;c) If you could change one thing about your writing career and accomplishments, what would it be?
Nothing yet. As me again next year.
LOL. Let’s take a look at DEADLY CAPTIVE. How did the idea come about? How long did it take you to write the story after the plot first came to you?
Deadly Captive kinda hatched in my head fully formed. And when ideas do that, I can’t do anything else until I get the words down. Doesn’t matter where—laptop, notebook, the inside of a pack of cigarettes (it’s happened)—I get jittery if I can’t find somewhere to jot the ideas. Writing the first pages is the greatest rush in the world.
Wow, just reading that is an inspiration! Did you face any specific roadblocks as you wrote it, or did the words come easily?
The words came easy—too easy. The whole manuscript needed some serious attention from my internal editor/surgeon/ax wielding psychopath.
Sounds like a bloody mess, but I clean up good 😉
(Anyone else getting worried in here? Hmmm…). LOL. What made you decide to submit this story to Noble?
Dare to be different caught my eye. I was afraid Deadly Captive would be too gritty and dark for any publisher—but I figured I’d give Noble a shot before doing something crazy, like trying to self-publish. I know that going the lone-ranger-route works for some people, but I’m not one of them.
I love how Noble takes chances on out-of-the-box stories. (I didn’t write any of them, but I appreciate it all the same, LOL.) What is your favorite part of DEADLY CAPTIVE?
Whenever Joe and Lydia butt heads. They’re both hardcore and stubborn so things get nasty. And their makeup sex is…intense.
Makeup sex. *licks lips* What do readers most often comment about in DEADLY CAPTIVE?
Probably that it’s very important to pay attention to the content warning. I was happy to see this stressed by the first reviewer on goodreads. The story is amazing as far as I’m concerned, but some people will be disturbed by how violent things get. I would advise people who are easily offended not to read Deadly Captive. Same goes for people who prefer sweet romance.
You might want to try Rosemary Entwined! 🙂
Well, on that note I’m very much interested in reading DEADLY CAPTIVE. And ROSEMARY ENTWINED. Geez, can Bianca sell a book or what? Let’s check out the blurb for DEADLY CAPTIVE:
Lydia awakes, bound and blind, to the whispered urgings of a man who has his hands on her. His words confuse her at first, but she soon understands they are both in the middle of a performance that will determine whether she remains in captivity or dies. The crowd must be entertained, and her cellmate makes sure it is.
Forced submission is not the only horror Lydia endures. She has no memories of life before her imprisonment, and Joe, her cellmate, is her only comfort as the powerful creatures that hold them captive torture and debase her. Together, she and Joe cling to the will to survive long enough to break free and seek revenge. Their desire to sustain one another triumphs over their wardens’ efforts to destroy them. There is no pain, no suffering, that can tear them apart.
Beyond their cell, their love is tested. Can they hold strong in the face of the challenge of the new powers they have gained along with their freedom?
Special Content Alert: BDSM, forced sex, graphic violence, menage, dark erotica
